Royal Estate - Part II
Last week, I shared Part I of Project Royal Estate, showcasing the complete transformation of this lovely South Carolina family’s home on the main floor. Today, I’m revealing the Before and After of the family’s master suite modernized from a dated, neutral color palette to a bold and sophisticated new look!
The family’s new home was very large, with the master suite accounting for about a third of the second floor. It was very spacious with vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets, a large four-piece on-suite bathroom, sitting room and balcony. The room was fit for a king and queen, but quite antiquated and out-of-date.
Here’s a few shots of the BEFORE:
As we redesigned and decorated the main floor of the home with fresh paint and new brass hardware throughout, we’d continue this theme upstairs in the master bedroom, replacing all of the lighting with modern, gold chandeliers and painting every inch of the entire space in a rich, purple hue, Benjamin Moore’s Elderberry Wine. At first, my clients weren’t sure about the color, fearing it wouldn’t be as gender-neutral as the new teal walls downstairs, but they fell in love with the mood board I created and decided it would be worth the risk. To contrast with the new darker colored walls, I selected off-white furniture for the upholstered bed, dresser, nightstands, accent chairs and chaise lounge. We also pulled horseradish, plum and blush out of the new High Fashion Home artwork to complete the color palette for the space.
Once the space was completely painted, the larger furniture pieces we ordered began to come in. We had a few logistical issues with the initial nine-drawer dresser and nightstands from Anthropologie Home, but were able to quickly receive similar off-white and brass alternatives from Wayfair for a much better price. By the time I arrived in town to finish decorating the home, the new lighting and curtains were hung. I ventured out to find additional throw pillows, a blush faux fur rug for the sitting area, a gold full length mirror and accessories for the shelving, surfaces and bathroom. A good Target and Home Goods run never ever fail me! I managed to find everything I needed to complete the master suite’s new appearance!
I’m so grateful to this client family for trusting my crazy, colorful ideas in creating this new luxe look.
Here’s a peek at the remarkable AFTER:
Next week, I’ll share the final part of this series including the children’s bed and playroom, office space and in-laws’ suite. Thanks for tagging along in touring one of my favorite client homes to date!
