About five years ago when I first started BLB, one of my first clients was an old colleague in my old (and now new) city of Atlanta. Bejeweled Bedroom was my first bedroom client project in Jewel’s townhome. Since then, Jewel’s career has continued to explode, she’s gotten married and is now the owner of a beautiful new craftsman-style home with her husband, Zekarias. I was so ecstatic to hear she wanted BLB’s help again!

While on the east coast visiting family, I stopped in Atlanta to visit Jewel and Zack’s home. It was beautiful, spacious and a complete blank canvas. As she walked me around, she shared her needs and wants for each space. On the main floor, we’d focus on the living room, foyer and nearby half bath. Upstairs, Jewel wanted make two of the guest bedrooms home offices (as Mr. Corona was beginning to take effect on all of our lives), refresh the guest room for visiting family and create a true sanctuary for the couple in their master suite and adjoining outdoor space.

Although we’d be purchasing quite a bit of furniture and décor, we’d also be repurposing some existing furniture from their former home and incorporating original Black artwork from Atlanta’s local ZuCot Gallery, the largest African-American owned fine art gallery in the Southeast.

I’m so grateful to Jewel and Zack for inviting me into their new house and letting me help them make it feel like home. We’d both grown so much since our first project together in 2016 and I look forward to watching her continued success and family grow in their new sanctuary!
