MCM Guest Room - Part Two

sponsored by AllModern

Two weeks ago on the blog, I shared Part One of my Mid-Century Modern (MCM) Guest Bedroom Makeover! Now it’s time for the big reveal, thanks to my friends at All Modern! Here’s a quick reminder of how things started:

BEFORE:

First, I found a beautiful new rug in HomeGoods from Jungalow x Loloi Rugs to set the foundation for the colorful space. I then positioned all of my existing furniture in the space including the upholstered channel bed, a mid-century modern desk and accent chair. Once everything was in the space, the room still felt way too vanilla for me. I could add a lot of color with curtains and artwork, but the space needed a bit more pizazz! Thank goodness All Modern has an endless variety of mid-century modern furniture and decor to choose from. I decided to replace the ceiling fan with a brass sputnik chandelier that would give the room ample lighting and a dash of retro-glam to give guests something to talk about. The option I selected was the perfect fit for the room and my budget at less than $400!

DURING:

It was very important to me to partner with local and minority-owned small businesses to make improvements to every space in my home. I discovered and contacted several talented companies on Thumbtack and Instagram that have each been such a blessing. The brothers, Majazz and Tallot of All Hands Assemble Services and Lots of Appeal have completed several projects in my home including the installation of the sputnik chandelier and gold curtain rod in the guest room. I also partnered with dynamic duo, Ashan and Jessica of Boardroom Accent Walls to custom design the zipper board and batten accent wall which would become the focal point of the space. Once complete, my buddies Juan and Esteban of J E Remodeling Services sprayed the wall in HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams’ Sonoran Teal. J E painted every room in my home, and I’m excited to share more projects I’ve done with them on the blog soon!

Once all the installations were completed, I staged the space with existing decor, hung my new grapefruit velvet drapes and artwork, and dressed the bed. And VOíLA! The guest room was finally ready! Here’s the finished product:

AFTER:

I’m so grateful to All Modern and my team of amazing local entrepreneurs for helping me bring my vision to life! I can’t wait to welcome guests and loved ones into my home and give them a colorful, mid-century modern oasis to lay their heads and relax in during their visit!

Be Blessed,

ACG
