Princess Palace
Back in June, a very special little girl turned four years old! Her mom sought out BLB’s help for the biggest birthday surprise, one that I’d need to complete while the family was away for summer vacation.
Janita purchased a beautiful new townhome last fall. It was in great condition and move-in ready, but she wanted Blessed Little Bungalow’s help revamping the living room again, as well as the rest of the home. Though we’d be tackling each room one-by-one this year, she had a special request to prioritize her daughter’s room in time for her upcoming birthday. Bryce’s room was a beige, blank slate that included her converted crib now toddler bed, her nursery glider and an endless amount of books and toys. We needed to transform the space into a girly, whimsical environment suitable for a growing girl with a big imagination.
BEFORE:
MOOD BOARD:
First, we needed to update the room’s neutral walls and tray ceiling. We selected a bubble gum pink paint color and metallic wallpaper that would provide cheerfulness and inspiration for Bryce daily. Once the color palette was decided, I shared a few different loft and bunk bed options for Janita to consider that Bryce wouldn’t outgrow, while still being fit for a princess. I selected a fun bubble-like chandelier to reflect Bryce’s bursting energy and bubbly personality and dressed the floor with a gorgeous pink, white and metallic oriental rug that was soft to the touch for all the playtime that would occur in the room.
Speaking of playtime, it was important to Janita for us to create a space that Bryce actually wanted to play and hang out in. I’d organize her toys in her existing shelving and cubbies, but I also picked out an activity table that could accommodate Bryce and friends for coloring, arts and crafts, puzzles, and tea parties. We removed the existing nursery glider and added a fun swivel chair that Bryce could sit in and arranged her other bean bag chairs and pillows in the play space under her new bed. Lastly, the new pink walls needed some love, so we hung some fun pom pom blackout curtains to adorn the windows, a new custom name sign above her existing cooking station, and I created a gallery wall with new and old artwork that could easily be added on to with Bryce’s own art and photos in coming years. After two weeks of juggling contractors, a few shopping trips, and staging and photography, Bryce’s new bedroom was ready to welcome her home. Take a look!
AFTER:
Janita recorded the reveal for me and Bryce’s reaction was priceless! Check it out here, the final photos shot by the incredible Kimberly Murray, and all the behind the scenes for #ProjectPrincessPalace on Instagram!
Thank you so much Janita for allowing me to transform Bryce’s room for her birthday. Can’t wait to tackle the rest of your home and I pray this new bedroom blesses Bryce for years to come! <3
Be Blessed,
Amber
