I love designing kids’ rooms! I can always be a bit more creative and execute ideas that are outside of the box. This spring, a previous client’s sister reached out to me about BLB helping her decorate her daughters’ bedroom in their new apartment.
Liz has three beautiful girls – Anastasia (17), Adrianna (11) and Aria (1). Before family arrived to town in May for Anastasia’s high school graduation, Liz wanted to finish decorating their new apartment and hired BLB to work on Anastasia and Adrianna’s room. Though a blank canvas, here’s a look at the BEFORE:
Upon meeting the family and viewing the space, the daughters had a few asks:
• Two twin beds, an area rug, nightstand, lamp, dresser and vanity mirror for makeup
• Wants room to feel clean, comfortable and minimalistic
• Need place for books, record player and additional storage
• Wants greenery/succulents, quotes and scriptures, pictures frames, hanging lights, curtains on larger window
• Likes aqua green/blue and blush pink, silver vs. gold and farmhouse white and grey washes on wood
• Closet needs organization, shoe rack, full-length mirror, and easy access to clothing and accessories
Based on our consultation and the girls’ asks, I created the following mood boards and design board for the project:
After preparing a shopping list for the larger items, Liz ordered the twin beds, dressers, curtains and storage benches for the space. Once the furnishings arrived, the family and took a shopping trip to HomeGoods, At Home and Target in San Antonio. Surprisingly, we found everything we needed that evening including an area rug, bedding, throw pillows, canvases and framed artwork, succulent plants, party lights and a full-length mirror.
I’m so proud of how the girls’ room turned out and the record time we were able to decorate it in considering our tight deadline of Memorial Day weekend. Take a look at the finished product:
I am so thankful to Liz and the girls for the opportunity to decorate their room. Who’s next?! :-D
Be Blessed,
ACG
