What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Hmmm...well, I’ve got a list:
Shot a rattle snake between the eyes with a shot gun in the 3rd grade (long story...LOL #countrygirl)
Randomly drove an hour from SC to GA to get a tattoo my freshman year in college (it was still illegal in South Carolina at the time LOL)
Jumped out of a perfectly good airplane for my 25th birthday (skydiving is the best)
Booked a $400 flight to Switzerland to spend my 30th birthday in Swiss Alps and city hop by train around the country for a week (one of the Top 5 trips of my life)
Moved to San Antonio, Texas and San Francisco, California on a whim for my career and a change of scenery (it was really a leap of faith and both paid off)
Went to Costa Rica to improve my Español and “clear my head” for two weeks, then returned to quit a job without a job...TWICE! (that was kinda crazy, but also paid off)
Paid off $89,000 in consumer debt including credit cards, auto and student loans in 24 months
Well this month, I did a thing...and this latest stunt may have topped the entire list above and is my biggest quarantine splurge to date! My family and friends know I’m a bit impulsive, but once I decide something, I just do it. I dream, I pray, and I jump with both feet and no fear of how gracefully I land. Life is short and if I’m only gonna be here for a little while, I’m gonna do what I love and feels right in my heart, mind snd soul.
So anywho... I bought a house and I’m moving back to Atlanta in 2021! What’s so crazy about this decision is that it wasn’t supposed to happen this soon (not until 2023 or 2024), but then COVID happened. The ability to work remotely permanently happened. Paying high rent in an empty city not financially making sense happened. And although I am still obsessed with San Francisco and the west coast, my family wanted me closer, and COVID + all things 2020 made me realize I wanted to be closer to them too.
I was “passively looking” for a house six months early just in case I ended up wanting to build new construction, and quickly realized that ain’t nothing really “passive” about me! So I began actively looking around Thanksgiving. After a few red eye flights, endless hours on Zillow and considering dozens of craftsman-style bungalows across Atlanta, I got this brand new construction home under contract just in time for Christmas and closed last week!
A huge shoutout to my bomb-dot-com Realtor, Thema Swift of The A.R.T. Group, Keller Williams Realty Buckhead (big thanks to my friend and BLB client, Jewel Burks Solomon for the referral!) for helping me hunt for and buy my new home virtually from across the country during a pandemic, fighting for me down to the cent, negotiating every repair and making this little girl’s dream come true!
I’ll be bicoastal for a bit, but after leaving 7 years ago, ATL, I’M BACK! And I’ve missed you. So now all my ‘Atlannuh’ friends and clients can stop asking when I’m returning! LOL And Mom and Dad, the nomad-madness is over (minus the occasional international travel). Your baby girl is home.
I’m absolutely thrilled for this next chapter and thankful to God for all these all these crazy blessings and dreams fulfilled. Looking forward to taking you all along the ride as I get settled, design, decorate and make this new house a home. So long, #BungalowbytheBay and helloooooo #BungalowintheA!
Be Blessed,
ACG
