Two years ago, I had the pleasure of designing Melissa Chanel’s home office aka #ProjectChateauChanel and bedroom #ProjectBohoModern. Since then, both of our businesses have grown quite a bit, and now she’s engaged and a new homeowner! #lifecomesatyoufast LOL I love working with Melissa because she completely trusts me and lets me go crazy creatively with color and free-hand painting! I was so excited when she asked me to help her transform her and her fiancé’s new townhome with that same multicolor, edgy style that went beyond both of our comfort zones.
Melissa and Isa built and closed on their brand new townhome in Charlotte at the end of 2019. The three bedroom, two and a half bathroom townhome is beautiful, but Melissa was anxious to decorate every inch of the space as soon as they moved in. It was very important to Melissa and Isa that the home reflected their personalities, interests and style. Oh and sneakers. Did I mention they looooove sneakers!? Haha me too. (Check out Melissa’s new sneaker wall opposite of a new accent wall I painted, it’s everything!)
MODEL HOME:
Based on priorities, budget (they are getting married and planning a wedding, hello!?) and timing, we decided to focus on the main floor first including their entryway, half bath, kitchen, dining and living room. Once covered, we’d shift our attention to their master bedroom. Though we’d be repurposing some of Melissa’s existing furniture on the first floor (dining table, coffee table, console table, etc.), we’d be decorating the master bedroom completely from scratch! After exploring a few different options, Melissa and Isa approved the mood boards below and I got right to work sourcing all the furniture and décor for each design.

MASTER SUITE MOOD BOARD:
I’d just moved to California when the project started, but was back in North Carolina throughout the holidays and before COVID hit in time to wrap up the project. Melissa hired contractors to paint accent walls in the living room and master bedroom and I hand painted the walls of her new cloffice (closet + home office LOL). During one of my trips home we also did some serious shopping in a few of our favorite stores – Home Goods, At Home, Target and TJ Maxx. We also ordered about 60% of the furnishings online. Thanks to Isa, all of our purchases were assembled, mounted and installed quickly without a hitch (note to self: find a husband LOL) and the project was completed before spring!

I’m so grateful to Melissa and Isa for inviting me back into their lives and new home to collaborate on building such a unique space. As they build their lives together as a married couple, I hope their new home brings them joy, prosperity and many blessings for years to come.
