Last Christmas, I had the pleasure of helping the Chapman family design their daughter, Carrington’s new big girl bedroom, Carrington’s Corner. Once I completed the project, “Miss Amber” got a huge hug bye from Carrington’s older brother, Ashton, so I knew it was only a matter of time before it was someone else’s turn! LOL
The Chapman family may live in Columbia, South Carolina, home of my Alma Mater, the University of South Carolina, but they are diehard Clemson fans. Mom and Dad, Ashley and Scottie both attended Clemson University where they were college sweethearts, so it’s no surprise that their children are big fans of the orange and purple as well. It’s certainly Ashton and Carrington’s birthright!
With Ashton’s 9th birthday approaching, his parents sought out BLB again to help give him a bedroom update that would rival his sister’s across the hall.
Here’s where things started:
Since we had a tight timeline, I put together a plan for the project rather quickly. I’d be traveling to South Carolina soon, so I sent the design boards to Ashley to consider. Once approved, I shared the online shopping list with her to begin ordering all the decorative items and I’d paint and install the decor upon my arrival.
Before I arrived in town, Scottie re-painted the room in Sherwin-Williams Ice Cube. I wanted to select a reviving color that would make the bedroom look bigger and give it a fresh look. Ashley selected a basic white and HGTV by Sherwin-Williams Violet Obsession and Orange Motif for the Clemson-colored stripes I’d hand-paint in a shiplap pattern on the accent wall. In the middle above the bed, we’d position the infamous Clemson paw logo courtesy of Fathead. Once I got the Frog Tape in place, I got right to work! Freestyle painting accent walls in my clients’ homes has quickly become my favorite thing about most projects!
Once the paint was dry and the tape was removed, we put the bed and furniture back in place, mounted the shelving from PB Teen on each side of the bed and hung various artwork and a gallery wall near the window. Ashley also ordered the perfect orange locker that would be positioned by Ashton’s closet to store all of his football gear.
Though I’ve always hated any and everything orange and purple (and I mean everything LOL), I can’t help but love how this space turned out! Take a look:
The best part was Ashton’s reaction to the surprise! Though super chill, this superstar was very happy with his Clemson and sports-themed bedroom makeover.
Thank you, Chapman family for inviting me back into your home and lives to transform another space! I’m so glad you allowed this Gamecock to give you the exact Tiger Town you were hoping for!
