So I did a thing… and my kitchen just got a lot more colorful!
For a few months, I’ve been contemplating adding a wall mural in my home. Of the remaining white spaces in my home, my choices included my second floor loft, staircase wall, and kitchen. My kitchen had an awkward wall across from the cabinets that I wasn’t quite sure what to do with. I added a gallery wall of framed artwork and maps to fill the space, but the “builder beige” still needed some love. This would be the space I’d adorn first.
Although I could’ve taken a stab at painting the mural myself, I wanted to invest in a local Atlanta artist, as there were many in the city I admired. Michelle Kee of M. Kee Designs is phenomenal! I’ve drooled over her indoor and outdoor murals for years, so I was so excited when she replied to my Instagram DM about transforming this space.
BEFORE:
After having Michelle over to view the wall in person, we discussed a few different options and settled on my favorite plants and colors to complement my kitchen cabinets and main floor’s palette. I was excited to create something eye catching from every entry and angle of my home that wouldn’t clash with the wallpaper or paint selections in the adjacent spaces. From there, Michelle began sketching out a mockup and we scheduled a date to start the magic!
DURING:
The next morning, I woke up and couldn’t believe this was my house. I’m so in love with what Michelle and I created and incredibly grateful to her for gracing my home with her God-given gifts.
Take a look…
